A few years back I had an idea which emerged from a growing
contempt for Premier league football, TV deals, fat cat footballers and the
rapidly increasing demise of lower league football that was a result.
This idea was “The Random Army”, the concept being to
mobilise like minded football fans to group together and en-masse attend a
randomly chosen lower league football game, as such adding a much needed and
welcome boost to the match attendance and the home clubs coffers.
The hope was that the “Army” could become a movement
publicising the plight of lower league football and hopefully spread from a
local base to being a national entity.
Sadly due to personal and work commitments I couldn’t give
the idea the time needed to establish it, yet I did get the chance to take in
some great games at Accrington, Blyth, Hyde, Mansfield to mention a few.
The reason I bring this up is not to “resurrect” the idea,
but to ask would it be of interest to the UK based managers of Top100 to meet
up say once a month to take in a “random” game of lower league football?
In a way taking our online community up a level and into a
social community.
Obviously there may be geographical issues but I thought I
would just throw the idea out there and see if anyone would be interested in
the first instance.
Please take time to comment negatively or positively to the
idea so I can either bury it or buy a mini-bus !!!!
